China Overview

China can be visited throughout the year because of the stretch of its territories and sites and activities it can offer. Deciding when to visit China depends on which places you wish to visit, what type of weather you enjoy, and how much a bargain you want. China is a huge country with many different climates and types of landscape. Think of it in terms of the United States, which China resembles in size and shape. Traveling along the Golden Route (Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, and Guilin) is like visiting New York, Chicago, Santa Fe, and Jacksonville, Florida all in one trip. Apart bfrom being an interesting study abroad destination, China is famous for its diverse, interesting, intriguing and not to mention very affordable cuisine.

Aside from China's unique Chinese language, calligraphy, martial arts and other cultural subjects, Chinese degree programs in majors such as engineering, science, medicine, economics and trade, MBA as well as finance are highly revered.


Education Strategy

As outlined in recent policy updates, the strategy includes elements on strengthening China’s education system to make its universities world class, and supporting and encouraging universities and vocational colleges to expand overseas. It also includes an emphasis on taking a leading role in developing qualifications systems, and a focus on improving and enhancing transnational education delivered into China - specifically identifying the disciplines of natural science and engineering as two disciplines urgently needed in this area.


Employability

Some students will be able to work whilst they are studying in China, either part time or in the holidays. Working can be a great way to get additional experience and enhance your employability or find opportunities for after you graduate. There is legislation about working in China for students and it is your responsibility to check and ensure that you comply with all the requirements. Previously international students were not permitted to work in China, but now it is allowed to take internships as long as you get permission from your University.


Financial Aid
Scholarship opportunities of studying in China are available at some universities and local governments. Each university has its own scholarship scheme. In order to promote the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in politics, economy, culture, education, and trade between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and research in Chinese universities.


Living in China
China's cities often differ from each other due to their incredibly diverse history, geography and differences in climate. But they have at least one aspect in common: China’s cities urge into modernity, and city planners are fond of trying new concepts. Striking architecture, tall skyscrapers, and modern infrastructure are just one indication of this effort. Chinese are very sociable and a lot of daily life takes place in public: Strangers get together in order to dance or play sports. Because of that public facilities such as parks are spacious, clean and equipped with a variety of training devices. Another consequence is that the prices for daily life services and goods are relatively low. In China to go out for dinner is nothing special and compared to the West, a pure bargain. Public transportation as well is incredibly inexpensive and services are performed quickly and inexpensively.


Language

Chinese, a new skill, there are more Chinese speakers in the world than any other language, and being able to speak Chinese allows you to communicate with Chinese speakers which is great for travelling in China, business, and your career, literally opening the door to a whole new world of opportunities.


Travel in China

China is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and if you are studying in China you can take trips in the holidays. Climb the Great Wall of China, ride camels in the desert down the silk road, take a boat down the Yangtze, see the Hanging temple of Datong. Other than that, Beijing is 25th and Shanghai 39th in the QS Best Student Cities 2016. This is unsurprising given their selections of highly ranked universities, strong employment prospects, and comparatively low costs of living.
